But I don't want the Live Toolbar, that's just wasting screen real estate. I just want my favorites in IE or Firefox.

I have 8 pages, with some 60 feeds in total. It loads pretty fast, so I'm happy :)

Regarding live.com, as rein mentions above a lot of employees were moved onto Live Search which is why development has stagnated. We've heard that a new team has taken over however, so maybe by early 2008 we'll see some changes.

To Alex and Foaf - download the Live toolbar, it then interates the favorite site onto IE. It works really, really well.

I do wish they would get the whole Live, MSN sorted. Maybe they could merge them like they did with Hotmail and Live mail.

I love the live homepage. I have nine pages set up with RSS feeds galore. It is awesome.

Alex - I totally agree about Live Favorites, it is incovnient and somewhat slow (compared to a client favorites list). But as a backup and location free favorites service it has been invaluable. I wish it was part of the Windows Live Mobile suite.

There are a few services that aren't upgraded to Wave 2 yet, and those services haven't undergone changes for months now.

These services are Alerts, Favorites and Live.com. Alerts won't go down because it's much-used (for example by the MSDN Forums), but Favorites... I don't know.

Favorites is supposed to replace the good ol' bookmarks-button in IE/Fx/Opera/whatever, but it's inconvenient. It isn't designed as a social bookmarking site (like del.icio.us or StumbleUpon), so it doesn't compete there. It's unusable for desktop usage because it lacks browser integration.

Live.com and Favorites being the only two services that have been the same for months, and don't add much to the existing services elsewhere on the web (live.com competes with iGoogle, Netvibes, etc etc), they'll have to do some hard work to keep up-to-date, or else the projects might be cancelled by MSFT...

I actually missread the title of this log at first and thought that Live.com were actually announcing loads of improvements :( I was really excited :(

No they are going to update sometime in 2008 (maybe even near the start), I assume, because they said in their blog "details which aren't ready to be released yet". So they are definately working on things and they have to anyway because it is not Wave 2 yet... they aren't just going to leave it now are they? *ponders that rhetorical question, but then takes a look at Windows Lve Favourites* Hmmmm....

AFAIK last I heard, live.com development had stopped and the team was moved into live search and other projects.

I wouldn't expect any updates to live.com any time soon.

I use live.com everyday as my homepage and find it brilliant. Googles IG is nice and quick, but I prefer the integration of Live Hotmail and Live Favorites into Live.com. Shame there's no news, but thanks for keeping a look out.

those poor 'Softies. i logged on to my guest account today, opened IE and the home page was a GooglePage, and it seemed far far better than Live.com. I hope they finally figure out what the heck they are doing...
