Microsoft and Nokia have sent out invitations for a party in conjunction with Gamescom, “the world’s largest trade fair and event highlight for interactive games and entertainment”, according to a post at theunwired.net. Promising an evening to remember with “exciting actions and surprises”, the event, scheduled for August 17th, may (or of course may not) give us some new information on when to expect “Sea Ray” and possibly even other new Nokia Windows Phones.
While no one is sure what to expect from the event, speculation is rampant as the date seems to coincide with both the just concluded RTM of Windows Phone Mango, and the scheduled release of at least one new Mango phone by September, the Japanese Toshiba-Fujitsu IS12T from KDDI.
Will we see an onslaught of new Windows Phones, running Mango, as early as this September? Will it help get a jump against Apple’s iPhone 5, now rumored for an early October release? Will Microsoft start to gain some momentum this holiday season? Should be fun times!
